ONE SIP AT A TIME

Facts that you always wanted
to know about water

Tetra Pak: How does mineral water get packaged?💧

Take a look behind the scenes at how Tom Tropfen mineral water is produced.

Have you ever wondered how mineral water ends up in a carton bottle? Today, I'll show you exactly how it's done.

1. First, the packaging arrives 🚚

Before any water can be poured into the packaging, large rolls of Tetra Pak cartons are delivered to the factory. These will be used to make the Tom Tropfen mineral water bottles. The caps and outer packaging are supplied too. Everything is neatly stored, as if in a huge warehouse.

2. The packaging is formed ✂️

First, the heavy reels are placed in the filling machine. Next, they are cut to size, sealed on the side and unfolded.

3. The neck of the bottle is moulded and the cap is placed on top ⚙️

Next, the neck of the bottle is moulded and the cap is attached. This is sealed tightly to prevent any leaks when you put the bottle in your school bag later.

4. Don't forget to cleaning up!

Before the mineral water is filled into the packaging, the inside of each bottle is thoroughly cleaned. A special light is used to ensure that the packaging is completely free of bacteria. Ultimately, the water should have a shelf life of 18 months and be totally pure. The funny thing is that the packaging is upside down during this process!

5. Now it's time to fill it up 💦

The exciting moment has arrived: the water is being filled!
It happens really quickly, as if a tap were being controlled by a robot. The packaging is lifted up, filled, and lowered again.

6. Folding, folding, folding 📄

Once the packaging has been filled with water, the base is sealed to prevent any leakage. The packaging then exits the machine.

7. Date on it 🎨

To help you know exactly how long the water will keep for, a best-before date is printed on each pack. The packaging then travels along conveyor belts, similar to those found at airports. From there, the bottles are grouped together in cardboard boxes. There are always two next to each other and six behind each other.

8. Packing and stacking 📦

The finished boxes are packed onto pallets and wrapped. Once this final step is complete, the boxes can be loaded onto the truck. You may soon find Tom Tropfen mineral water in your supermarket or school.

When the time comes, it's your turn: open the screw cap, take a sip, and say: 'Mmm, I like this water!'

It's amazing how much happens before you can enjoy a sip of the water, isn't it? Now you know. Every pack is made with great care and attention to technical details.

Best regards,

Timo
