Why it’s so important and how you can easily make it part of your daily routine.
Do you know the feeling? The working day begins and you're rushing from meeting to meeting while your to-do list keeps growing – and suddenly it's the afternoon. Your coffee has long since disappeared, but your full glass of water is still untouched on the desk.
You're not alone! ☝️
In the hustle and bustle of office life, drinking water is often neglected, usually due to lack of time, forgetfulness or simply because we're focused on other things. But that’s exactly the problem.
Why is it so important to drink water regularly at work?
Our bodies are made up of around 75% water. Even a slight loss of just two percent of this fluid can have noticeable consequences, such as:
Difficulties concentrating
Headaches
Fatigue
It's especially important to keep our bodies hydrated at work, when we need to think and perform well, even when we don’t feel thirsty.

Here are my five tips to help you drink more water during the working day:
1. Set a daily goal
Make it specific: For example, aim to drink two litres a day, which is around six to eight glasses. This gives you a clear target and helps you to track your progress.
2. Start your day with water
Have one or two glasses before your first coffee. This will help to replenish your hydration levels after the night before. Ideally, choose mineral water with a high mineral content (at least 2.500 mg per litre), as this will also supply your body with essential nutrients.
3. Keep water within easy reach
It sounds simple, but it works! If your water bottle or glass is clearly visible on your desk, you’re more likely to drink from it regularly.
4. Make it a habit – routines help!
Link drinking water to specific moments in your day, such as your first glass after waking up, another when you turn on your laptop, and one before a meeting or during a break. This will help you to integrate drinking water into your daily routine without even thinking about it.
By the way: The 60-Day Water Challenge is an excellent way to effortlessly build a drinking routine.
Important: more isn't always better. It's healthier to drink regularly throughout the day than to drink all at once – this is also easier on your body.
5. Find your favourite water
Water can taste surprisingly exciting if you pay attention.
My recommendation: Buy five different mineral waters with different compositions and taste them one after the other. Look for differences in taste: sweet, salty, sour or slightly bitter.
Once you find a water that you truly enjoy, you'll naturally drink more of it.
You'll see! Pro tip: A small tasting session with your colleagues can be great fun and provide everyone with motivation.
Bonus tip: If you want to keep it simple while learning more about water, order one of the #AWESOMM TASTING BOXES for home.
In summary: Drinking more water improves your performance.
Drinking water regularly is a small change that makes a big difference. You’ll feel fitter and more focused, while also doing something good for your health.
With a few simple tricks, drinking water at work can become a healthy habit. The best time to start? Now.

About Timo Bausch
My fascination with mineral waters began in 2016 during my training as a Water Sommelier. Since then, I have been exploring the characteristics and diversity of water. In addition to pairing water with food, wine, coffee and other beverages, I offer the creation of water menus for restaurants and hotels. Furthermore, it is also important to me to draw attention to the importance of drinking water.
