ONE SIP AT A TIME

Facts that you always wanted
to know about water

Why we should not drink less water during winter ❄️

When the sun sets earlier and it gets colder outside, winter is just around the corner. We exercise less and treat ourselves with a Christmas treat or two. At the same time, you might think that our bodies need less water during this time of the year.

A big mistake ☝🏽

Because even during the winter months, our body is dependent on an adequate fluid supply. Through breathing alone, we lose around 400 ml of fluid every day. In addition, we sweat during the day due to our thick clothes and at night due to the warm blanket. This causes another 500 ml of fluid to be lost. On top of that, warm heating air dries out our skin and mucous membranes. As a result, we are more sensitive to viruses and cold bacteria.

What can be signs of water deficiency?

  • Tiredness

  • Headache

  • Lack of concentration

  • Dry skin

  • Dark urine

How can we prevent a water deficiency?

To keep our mucous membranes hydrated and our organs functioning properly, it is important to drink at least two liters of water throughout the day. In addition, sufficient water intake gives the skin elasticity and vitality, which is particularly important during the cold season.

About Timo Bausch

My fascination with mineral waters began in 2016 during my training as a Water Sommelier. Since then, I have been exploring the characteristics and diversity of water. In addition to pairing water with food, wine, coffee and other beverages, I offer the creation of water menus for restaurants and hotels. Furthermore, it is also important to me to draw attention to the importance of drinking water.
