What inspired you to become a Water Sommelière?

I barely had beverages other than water and soy milk when I was little. Hence, I feel that I somehow have an interesting relationship with water. It would be awesome to learn more about water and how to taste it properly. Therefore, I went to Munich and received training in Doemens. I was certified when I was 21, the youngest Taiwanese Doemens Water Sommelier (2022).

Learning about water-tasting skills was one of the best decisions I've ever made, for sure. It was truly eye-opening, and it definitely has a significant impact on my life!

What is your superpower?

I love trying out new things, exploring different industries!

Can you share a memorable experience you've had as a Water Sommelière?

I held water-tasting and knowledge workshops & competitions for people of various backgrounds. I also travel to different cities and gather water from various countries. It's really interesting to analyze cultural insights from the water characteristics of different places.

What is your favorite water and why?

This is a hard question. There isn't the best water, so I also don't have a strong preference for specific brands. However, generally speaking, I prefer water that feels fresh, clear, and crispy.

Please finish the sentence: Water for me is...

an essential part of human beings, a delicate art, something close to everyone's lives.

What do you believe is the future of the Water Sommelier profession?

I consider water sommeliers to be people who convey water knowledge, guide water-tasting experiences, and help make the world a better place with water-related industries, events, etc. I think there will be more creative ideas about water coming out, and that's very exciting.

How do you think valuing water contributes to a more sustainable future?

I believe that water valuation helps more people choose the water that is more suitable for themselves. Besides, people can use water consumption as an approach to absorbing minerals if they aren't able to consume certain foods/beverages and gain nutrition from them. I also hope more people of the younger generation can be aware of water and how it impacts our lives.

What else would you like to share with the community?

It's such an honor to join this community. I'm really excited to meet more water sommeliers around the world. :) Feel free to connect with me if there's anything about water I can help with!

Timo, Thank you so much for the invitation to join here!

Ru-Yun, thank you for the interview!
